Want to own a football club?

Two years ago I joined myfooballclub.co.uk, an Internet venture that joined together football fans from around the world with the aim to take over a football club in the UK. Eventually the group took over the control of Ebbsfleet United, a club in the top-flight of non-league football. The scheme is pretty basic. Daily operation is in the hands of the staff hired to run the club and oversee the day-to-day tasks, but all major decisions (including team selection) are in the hands of the owners. There have been bumps along the road and some parts of this could have been done otherwise, but mostly I have enjoyed this a whole lot. On the footballing side, the club has done ok and settled its place in the league. On top of that it clinched a victory in the FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium last year, with a 1-0 win over Torquay United in front of a big crowd.

Now funding for next season is in process and it is not going too well, which means that the squad might be much weaker than last year. If you are interested in joining, visit the site and buy yourself a football club 🙂

Here are last season’s top goals.
